Panhandler in Neighborhood

"Pastor" Howard Boatman has been going door to door in Story Hill asking for money for his "Milwaukee Restoration Church".  He has a piece of paper with his name and "church" address, 3158 N. 16th Street.  He has been seen in the neighborhood on at least three separate occasions.  Mr. Boatman has a criminal record dating back to 1984, most recent arrest was on Jan 26, 2010.  The "church" address is a rental-residential property.  Mr. Boatman was recently evicted from his former residence at 2202 N. 42nd Street.  Please do NOT give this man money.  He is nothing more than a fraud and panhandler.  Mr. Boatman is 49 yrs old, tall with a mustache, somewhat graying hair. Neighbors are advised to call police if he becomes aggressive with them.

"Sweet Spots"

Story Hill was featured in the April 2009 edition of Milwaukee Magazine as a "sweet spot" in the City of Milwaukee.  The magazine interviewed dozens of real estate agents, appraisers, assessors, neighborhood association leaders and home inspectors to create the list of over 70 streets and subdivisions in the metro area that "are sweet spots - special places where the view, the style of homes, the trees, the nearby parkland, the unusual location, or some serendipitous intersection of aesthetics and accessibility creates a cozy niche where everyone seems to want to live."

The article describes Story Hill as "developed in one fell swoop 80 years ago by a local builder with a sense of whimsy.  It looks like a subdivision built by famed children's book illustrator Tasha Tudor."

Story Hill was featured as the "Neighborhood of the Week" in the September 27, 2008 edition of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.  Check out the two stories here:
